yay! zine orgy 2!

hello. this post is going to be all about the event Zine Orgy 2 (from my v limited point of view) which happened last night (May 19, 2016). i have been looking forward to this day for so long, being an exhibitor for the first time. i prepared some stuff for sale, etc.
i did the Sticker Bukkake poster! isn't it fine wine? :) i guess i should have asked if i may have this poster as remembrance... . . . thanks to Myers-Briggs-obsessed Gab for taking his picture!
thanks to Mac a.k.a Asshulz for allowing me to make a poster. and for editing it a little. (the white outlines + blue background)
my table during the night! this was taken more than halfway through the event already when there's like only two copies of Mix 66 left and Feels;21 + GOT fanart was nowhere to be seen!
right now i'm trying to come up with words to describe the event + my experience as a seller but i don't know how to write any more. all i can say is that i felt excited the whole night and am very grateful for everyone who picked up zines and stickers et cetera. the GOT fanart prints were the first to disappear. i should have prepared more prints.. . . . the stickers did well too. and my zines! Feels;21 and Mix 66! i was worried nobody's gonna find my babies interesting but my 12 copies of each actually sold out. i hope the one who got Feels appreciated the hand-drawn original covers.
i sold those black & white stickers for 15 each or 3 pieces for 30php.
here's six of like 12 covers of Feels;21. it's a zine compiling sketchbook/diary entries from 2015.
the inside

not to be too self-congratulating but i felt generous for a lot of times and gave away a lot of stickers when i felt like it + some discounts if the customer is nice * * * not very sure if irregular unplanned giveaway shit like that are good for business but i dont care all that much i guess.
i also displayed my four copies of I'm Fine! mini zine. so surprised people were interested in that!

meanwhile these are the stuff i got from other artists. i bought some and some are acquired through art trades and some just gave me their stuff because they're kind like that. especially czae. who's already pretty and is talented it isn't fair!
best zine of the night for me is that small rectangular one with the japanese title! it has a bunch of pictures taken from japan. the print is in good quality plus the photographs were good. the worst one is the literary folio zine of UPLB writers org., (the one with the face), it just isn't very good as a whole, especially the poems. :(
i don't know what to say anymore so here are just photos and photos and photos.
i only have pics around my table cause i hardly got up the entire time.
here's me with Gab! thanks for introducing me to #smirnoff ive never tried that shit before!
and hey i almost forgot! here's the zine i did with Magpies! NUDES and stories! it came a bit late to the party so not a lot of people saw it but man i am so proud of this piece. each of the writers worked hard in their stories!
thank u for cumming and if u werent there please go next time! it's a wonderful thing.

I'm Fine! (zine)

last night i spent my absolutely disposable time working on a little zine project.

i've always wanted to make  collage work, but quickly lose motivation because cutting and pasting and cutting and pasting paper just feels like a lot of work . i may be totally into the arts, but i am bad at all forms of handicraft! you should see my Home Eco projects from elementary school! they were a nightmare. it is all because i am used and more comfortable in doing everything quickly and haphazardly. idk.
so! anyway! i opened up a few old NatGeo magazines i have and just started cutting texture-y minimalist images and pasted them on one-fourth sheets and added a couple of drawings and here goes! the title of the ting is I'm Fine! #1. i probably shouldn't have added a number bc the chances that i'll make more volumes is not very likely.

here's a xeroxed version for distribution. i only had five copies printed. (and in very bad quality! absolutely like me as a person). this zine has 24 pages and is approx. 4 by 6 inches.

preview of 'Mix66'; writers' meetup; sneak peek of 'Nudes and stories'

okay so the first thing to address is that i don't know how to title blog entries! i just write details of what the post is going to be about so there's no point in reading the entry anymore! how reductive!

reductive is yesterday's word of the day. i first heard it in an old interview with Madonna when asked about being compared to Lady Gaga and she's like "i think it's reductive." and the report was like "and is that a good or bad thing?" and queen Madonna was like "i don't know. look it up." !! ha ha. Madonna is cool, i guess? and then Shaunnah (boss of Magpies collective) said "reductive" a lot last night too. i really like that word now. speaking of words, Gab asked what's one word i really dislike, and my answer is "blessed". what's one word you do not like at all?

here's a GIF preview of one of my zines, Mix66. (i said i will make a separate post about this but i realized i don't have much to say about this particular little book except that it's full of cool never-before-seen anywhere art (HOW DARE I!!!) and is absolutely life changing and you should ask me how to buy a copy like right now.)
okay. last night i met up with the writers of Magpies to discuss some work we've done for a group project we're doing. i don't want to give away much details because the thing is like only 30% done at the moment, but it's called NUDES and stories. what else could be more interesting than that! nothing! please buy that zine as well on Zine Orgy 2 happening this May.

it's been a while since i've discussed writing and storytelling and prose in general with other people so the meeting felt nice. one of two works i presented is a revision of some work i did a long time ago (2014). i am so thrilled for this project, i've never made this kind of collaborative work before and i honestly totally believe that our finished product is going to be good. all the writers involved have very original/fresh ideas. :) :) :)
see you around!
